Students show off their handmade clothing during a fashion show
Dannie Soler, who started the sewing club at Cooper Elementary, gave students the opportunity to learn the basics of fashion design.
Eight girls joined the club and began meeting about twice a week since February 2023.
Soler taught all the girls how to cut, read patterns, and measure so that they could start designing their own clothes.
Once all eight girls had made two outfits each, they rehearsed for a fashion show they would put on for friends and family.
The fashion show took place in the gymnasium and the girls were able to showcase their handmade clothing down a runway.
Soler said she was so proud to see what all the girls accomplished and let them keep all the pieces they made themselves at the end of the show.
