Let me introduce myself.
My name is Mrs. Debbie Kerr and I am your Cooper School Librarian.
My career in education began as an early childhood teacher in preschool and kindergarten. I then taught first and third grades. I very much enjoyed my years as a classroom teacher, but when the opportunity presented itself for me to return to my first love surrounded by books, I jumped at the chance.
I have worked either as a student or a professional in junior high school, high school, college, church, and elementary school libraries. I love books and reading and the challenge of lighting that fire in the students that visit the library media center.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 41 years. We have a daughter and a son, both grown and married, and three grandsons and a granddaughter, to whom I enjoy reading in my spare time.
One of my favorite quotes from The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco is:
"There is such sweetness inside of that book too!" . . . "Such things . . . adventure, knowledge and wisdom. But these things do not come easily. You have to pursue them. Just like we ran after the bees to find their tree, so you must also chase these things through the pages of a book!"
So . . READ and pursue all the great things you deserve from life!
